The Modern Capital Tactical Opportunities Fund was built in the spirit of a private fund that began trading over 20-years ago. The fund, which is sold as bot A (MCTOX) and Advisory (MCTDX) shares, seeks to invest a significant portion of the portfolio in Closed End Funds to exploit pricing inefficiencies and take advantage of Closed End Funds’ ability to leverage their assets while overseen by a professional portfolio management team.
Unlike some funds with a narrow mandate that can restrict a portfolio manager’s ability to react to evolving market conditions, the The Modern Capital Tactical Opportunities Fund allows the management team wide discretion, including the ability to expose the portfolio to both long and short holdings.
Due to a closed and funds natural pricing discrepancy with its holdings, the portfolio managers look to buy funds treating a discount to its Net Asset Value. Closed and funds are also capable of leveraging their holdings and, as a result of the leverage, are capable of returning increased yields compared to a non-leveraged portfolio. This enhanced yield allows the The Modern Capital Tactical Opportunities Fund to seek above market income without abandoning the potential for equity like asset appreciation.
